My Story
I’ve always been drawn to work that helps people feel safer, calmer and more confident in who they are.

I started out as a teacher, working with children and young people across a wide age range. Very quickly, I found myself paying as much attention to how people were feeling as to what they were learning. Inclusion, well-being and understanding difference became the thread that ran through everything I did — whether in the classroom, in leadership roles, or while supporting families and staff.

Alongside teaching, I carried with me an earlier grounding in scientific and analytical work, shaped through time spent in laboratory and industry settings. That way of thinking — noticing patterns, asking careful questions and valuing evidence — quietly influenced how I worked with people too. I learned to balance structure with empathy, and clarity with care.

Over time, teaching became less about delivering content and more about supporting people. I found myself coaching and mentoring adults, guiding teams through change, and helping others build confidence in their own judgement and abilities. Without quite realising it at first, this became the work where I felt most at home.

Life also has a way of slowing us down and reshaping our perspective. Periods of challenge and change deepened my understanding of resilience, compassion and what people really need when things feel uncertain. Those experiences continue to inform how I work now — with patience, realism and a belief that progress doesn’t have to be rushed to be meaningful.

My work since has spanned education, health and community settings. I’ve supported schools and organisations under pressure, worked alongside families navigating complexity, and designed learning, training and coaching that is practical, thoughtful and rooted in real life. I care deeply about making things accessible — no jargon, no blame, just honest conversations and tools that people can actually use.

Mindful Communities grew from a simple idea: that people thrive best when they feel understood, supported and valued. Whether I’m delivering training, offering coaching, or working alongside individuals and teams, my aim is always the same — to help people find steadier ground and a way forward that feels manageable and sustainable.

This work isn’t about fixing people or imposing solutions. It’s about noticing strengths, creating space to think, and building communities where people can breathe, learn and belong.
